makeup sponge...

i don't really consider myself to be a "girly girl" and clothes and accessories don't do it for me.  i much prefer to go shopping for food and gadgets for my kitchen.  but recently i am obsessed with two things that belong in my makeup bag; glitter nail polish and this new makeup sponge.  i saw a friend use this and hadn't seen it before.  apparently this is the new trend in makeup and i have to say...i love it!  i usually use disposable makeup sponges for about a week or so before replacing, but this one you get wet and squeeze out the excess water and use with foundation or powder.  it allows you to use a lot less makeup and the application is a lot smoother and flawless.

of course you can buy them at sephora and spend top dollar (anywhere from $19 - $30), but i found them at kohl's for about a quarter of the price.  once i fell in love with them and wanted to stock up, i got smart and went on amazon, where i got 4 for $5!!!!  i wash it with baby shampoo every few days to keep it clean and it has lasted a couple of weeks now (and is still like new).  this is one of my new favorite products and i hope you enjoy it too!

last month i made a promise to myself to do all that makes me happy, healthy and to eliminate stress and anxiety.  today i needed a reminder to keep my stress to a minimum and found some quotes online.  i do not know who this author is but i like what he has to say...

"you must learn to let go.  release the stress.  you were never in control anyway" - steve maraboli

"i promise you nothing is ever as chaotic as it seems.  nothing is worth diminishing your health.  nothing is worth poisoning you into stress, anxiety and fear" - steve maraboli

life changing advice...

don't get upset with people or situations, both are powerless without your reaction.

i first discovered my love of led zeppelin in college and i think classic rock is a genre of music that a lot of people can relate to.  in fact it is a good ice breaker.  i was reminded of a good story when i heard one of my favorite zeppelin songs on the radio the other day...tangerine

the day after i graduated college, i left for utah to be a production assistant on a movie.  my main role was to be a personal assistant to one of the lead actors.  i had to pick him up at the airport and drive him everywhere, i naturally had led zeppelin in my cd changer and it was playing in the background as we made small chat.  he heard the music and said "i love zeppelin!" and turned the music up loud.  from that moment on we worked well together and always had something in common.  i am a true believer that music and art can always bring people closer and have great meaning in our lives.

love language...

my sister recently had her bachlorette party in her old college town.  while hanging around the hotel for jacuzzi time and happy hour, we met a lot of "old men" who were there for  a  reunion.  they all offered up their best marriage advice.  some that i remember are...

"marriage is a daily choice"
"if you decide to leave the next guy's feet will smell too"
"you just have to go through it, you can't go around it"
and another guy said he was married for 22 years and had the best wife ever.

so i thought about what my own advice would be?  mine is simple; always be kind and always have an adventure waiting for the 2 of you.  but i wanted to do some research on this and i found this interesting blog.  it is written by a divorced man and it has some of the same advice from the old men in the jacuzzi, check it out here

one of my favorite tips in the blog is to learn your partners love language and use it!  if you are unfamiliar with love languages, check it out here to take the test and find out which language you respond best to.
