new years eve!

new tradition of celebrating with our neighbors!  we ate, we danced, we played, we drank (the adults) and rang in the new year on east coast time!

goodbyes suck!

ugh ugh ugh!  i hate saying goodbye to my parents after a good visit.  there is a part of me that always feels like the freshman at college when they dropped me off, crying.  but i have to be strong, because bowie takes it just as hard.  luckily jarad is able to take them to the airport on his way to work, which really helps because it sucks when we drop off company at the airport and bowie cries the whole way home.  BUT...after three weeks of family in town, i am looking forward to getting back to our routine, going back to school and getting the house in order AND we have NYE to look forward to tonight!

green eggs?

bowie has been asking for green eggs lately (ewww, thanks dr. seuss) but the other night she requested a "green dinner."  this is what i came up with...and she really only touched her apples.  i have no idea how my kids are such picky eaters???

pumpkin turtle pie...

courtesy of my good friend beth.  jarad likes this pie so much that he said it could replace his standing order of a frozen mrs. smith pumpkin pie!  so i made it the other day for christmas dinner!

hosting christmas dinner at our home for some of our favorite friends!  sadly ryder wasn't feeling good, but he rallied the best he could and while he napped the adults played games, cooked, snacked, drank and the kids played so nicely (with a tube of glitter hair mascara) and let us have a break.  it was a great end to a wonderful holiday!

christmas day!

we have been waiting for this day since the day after thanksgiving!  santa left some fun stuff in the kids stockings, and some unwrapped presents by their chairs.  and under the tree was all the presents from family and friends!  it was a great day! here is what our morning looked like!  of course we didn't manage to get any family photos by the tree.

being sick on christmas, just isn't fair.  after opening stockings and presents, this poor lil guy fell asleep on me.  we have some time to rest and chill before friends arrive for an early christmas dinner!
