busy bag swap!

this week i stepped out of my comfort zone and attended a busy bag swap with a moms group.  i knew no one there, but i knew i would enjoy it.  it was held at a wine bar and the idea was to create 12 identical inexpensive activities for toddlers 2-3 years old.  i made my favorite, rainbow rice!  and we all got a chance to explain our activities and we went home with 12 new ones and some new friends!

dollhouse nook...

my next project will be to wallpaper the inside of the curio cabinet to match the dollhouse.  and i have ideas of getting super funky wallpaper or paints to finish off that nook?  the creative juices have been flowing lately!  i have so many projects i want to do!!!  and i have more peg dolls coming in the mail, so i will get to paint those!  but here is our dollhouse nook and bowie playing!

park day!

it was a beautiful sunny day today, perfect morning to hang with friends at our favorite park!  since ryder is out of his infant car seat, this mama is trying to get more into baby wearing since it is quite hard to have 2 kids in tow.

peg doll house!

bowie is at a great age for a dollhouse, so i thought i would start to look online to see if i could find the perfect one.  i looked high and low and was not falling in love with any that i saw.  i wanted a wooden dollhouse, sizeable, not too many small pieces and modern looking.  this was a hard combo to find and i looked at used ones as well.  don't get me wrong, there are many really cool ones out there, but nothing that i was overly excited about.  so i thought why can't i make my own?  initially i thought i would have jarad build one from scratch, but then i had a great idea!  lets turn her bookshelf into one!

before

this bookshelf is really old and i have no idea where it originally came from.  but i felt confident i could repurpose it and make it super cool!  after 2 trips to the craft store, i got the perfect selection of scrap booking paper to wall paper my house!  i went with black and white and rainbow prints in lots of sophisticated and cool patterns.  i cut my paper to size and used mod podge to adhere it to the shelf and jarad cut foam board inserts to use as room dividers.  he hot glued those in place and also 3D printed some clips to secure them.  i turned it into the perfect mid century modern doll house for our peg dolls!  we ordered some lighting that we will install this week and it lives in the nook by our staircase!  i am obsessed with the finished product and if only i convince jarad that we should wall paper our house to match!

done wall papering!

doll house furniture...

i feel like bowie is at a perfect age for a doll house, so i am starting to look online for the perfect one.  but every doll house needs furniture!  so i got to re purposing some mismatched blocks to make my own.  just some old blocks, hot glue and felt.  i stayed up way too late but had way too much fun!  apparently i am going for a mid century modern look!
