garden box

finally planted my garden box and am excited to watch it grow.  we planted peppers, shallots, lettuce, cucumbers and herbs. 

art auction

feeling good about my art auction piece for school. bowie's class used various size craft sticks and decorated them with sharpies, watercolor paints, crayons and colored pencils. i hot glued them to a 18x24 canvas. i didn't have the headspace for a big or elaborate project, and this could not have been easier or turned out cuter!

dirt cake

an oldie but goodie.  dirt cake made with instant chocolate pudding, whipped topping and crushed oreos, you can't go wrong.  definitely a crowd pleaser and the kids had fun making it too!

dutch baby

this has been our favorite recipe of 2025!!!  so easy and delicious it has become our sunday tradition.  this morning i see a heart in my dutch baby, reminding me to find joy in the small things.

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup flour

3 eggs

pinch nutmeg

1 t vanilla 

in a 10 inch skillet pan melt 4 T butter.  then add your batter to the pan and bake at 400 for 20 minutes.  then reduce oven to 300 and cook for an additional 5 minutes, dust with powder sugar.

make your own board game

i picked up some blank "make your own board game sets" while thrifting and pulled one out for the kids to get creative with.  i told them they had to work together cooperatively, and they came up with their own lego game and and all the rules.  they played it a couple of times to work out any kinks and we played as a family!  very impressed!

house plants

i like to get a couple new house plants for myself every mothers day.  last year jarad picked me out an aloe plant.  i enjoy watching how they grow and evolve year after year.  this year i picked out a snake plate and a new string of pearls and a string of bananas.  i am also investing in pottery with drainage and slowly replanting any that don't have it.  love the new look of my kitchen window!

monochromatic self portrait

bowie has the same teacher she had back in kinder and she is so creative and has the best art projects.  her latest self portrait is a moody monochromatic one and i am loving it!

one of the first gardening rules i learned after moving to washington state was, plant your garden AFTER mothers day.  we have had a significant amount of nice weather this spring so i have already spent a lot of time in the yards.  but today i went shopping for myself for mothers day and came back with some indoor and outdoor plants.  

appreciation

the kids have some really special staff at their school!  one of their recess teachers in particular is amazing and the kids adore her!  i have gotten to know her better this year and we just "get each other."  she gave me these bulbs for mothers day and i was so touched by her thoughtfulness.

read with rover

there was a local pet adoption today where you can read to dogs/cats that are up for adoption.  while we are not in the market for a new pet, we are always up for reading and loving on animals.  our favorites were the kittens and the senior dogs.
