spring has sprung!

 66 degrees this afternoon!!!  the sun felt so good, and we played outside with chalk and the kids ran, it was the most lovely afternoon!

this was a directed drawing of a bunny using oil pastels and then we filled it in with tempera paint cakes.  this is a great drawing for kids because it has familiar shapes and it comes out pretty cute, and the oil pastels create a resist painting as well.

sunday night, jarad's birthday ended with a broken washing machine.  and as of tuesday night, it is up and running again.  this is the 3rd time he has taken apart the washing machine in a year!  but i am so impressed with his ability to fix anything! there isn't much he can't do!

waffle candy kit

this is a japanese candy kit that bowie got for her birthday, it is a waffle one.  we had fun making it and i think this is one of the better tasting ones as well.

sunshine picnic

picnics have been our favorite "activity" lately.  they usually include going to a park and then finding a nice spot for lunch.  i usually bring the same thing for lunch; peanut butter and jelly, string cheese, crackers, trail mix and a piece of fruit.  and i serve it on a disposable place mat, thanks to my father in law who hoarded us a lifetime supply of them from chickfila (although we are going through them quickly).  i love that it gets us outside, no dishes or clean up and they get tired playing. today's park lunch was at petrovitsky park, and it was a beautiful day!

spring sheep art project

i made the outline of a sheep with a sharpie marker on construction paper and gave bowie (ryder had NO interest in this project) a cotton ball on a clothespin and some white paint.  she got to dab in the sheeps wool.

arboretum picnic

slow start to the week and it was a nice (but COLD) morning so we ended up at the arboretum for a walk and picnic lunch.  it's a good thing this place doesn't get old.

day #2

we needed a reset in our house, which usually means a break from the TV.  yesterday was hard, but today they haven't even asked to watch anything, and they are getting really creative in their play.  we will see how long we go without the screen.

luckily you got a good ride in yesterday cause the weather was total crap today.  and every year you make your own dinner, chicken wings.  but we love you so much and i hope you have a special birthday!  40 looks good on you, even with a mullet.

14 oz

found this cute 14 oz cobalt fiesta bowl today.  this may also be referred to as a cereal bowl.  here it is next to the 19 oz bowl that comes in the classic place setting so you can see the size difference.  it sure is cute and is a good size for ice cream, left overs or cereal!

naps

nap time is still a struggle for ryder since he has switched into his big boy bed about 5 weeks ago.  today he took a short nap and always gives me the biggest hugs when he wakes up, even though he is a bit grumpy.
