bowie has been drawing lot of pictures of wilfred and brought home a book she made of wilfred and vivi together. mimi says she has been seeing a pair of two cardinals in her backyard, which i learned can be a sign of comfort when you have lost a loved one. so we like to think the cardinals are visits from viv and wilfred. she did a great of depicting wilfreds sweet face and vivi's pointy ears and fluffy tail. the last picture is these two hugging.
i got this wilfred pet pillow for jarad. it is so cute and soft. UGH, how we miss our wilfie!!! and rosie roomba and the dust buster have never had to work so hard to keep the crumbs clean under the kitchen table. this pillow lives in his bed in the office by jarad.
this photo popped up on my phone this morning, as pictures from this day in 2018. i was pregnant with ryder and wilfred is snuggled up on my belly. i can't stop looking at this photo and am reminded of the way he smells, the softness of his fur and those big brown puppy eye. i am also reminded that he wasn't always jarad's dog and he used to share his love more evenly. oh how i miss you wilfred, what i would give to kiss on that muzzle of yours!
it's been a little over two weeks since we said goodbye to our wilfred. it's been hard and emotional, and it leaves such a void in your heart. we buried him in our backyard, HIS backyard. we finished painting our cement paw prints and i painted a couple of rocks to mark his spot. rest in peace our sweet boy.
ahhhhh, just when you think, "i haven't cried about wilfred today," you get something like this. thank you mom and dad for the living tribute, 10 trees will be planted in his honor in the snoqualamie forest. a most perfect and fitting gift for our furry son.
i was doing good at not crying today, until bowie brought this picture that she made home from school. it reads "wilfred crossed the rainbow." it looks just like him with the long body and i love the bluebird feeding a baby bird. this is a keeper!
just like a child, the love between a pet and owner is one of the most purest forms of love. when we adopted you, you came to us named "chance." shortly after, we named you "wilfred beardsly," you grew into that name and we instantly fell in love with you. over the years you have traveled with us, moved with us, adventured with us, grown with us and are an irreplaceable member of our family. your body failed you, but your (almost) 10 years here were great ones and you are loved beyond measure. today you can rest peacefully in YOUR yard, the one daddy always promised you and made good on. you will always be with us, thank you for choosing us, it was the best "chance" we took.

| first night we brought you home |
oh J, how i wish this wasn't happening on your birthday. our hearts are hurting and heavy as we say our goodbyes to wilfred. we always say "my presence is your present," and this is wilfred's present to you, one more day of cuddles.
wilfred, it is okay to let go, look for that rainbow bridge. look for your doggy friends. don't worry about us, you will ALWAYS be with us and a part of this family. run free, eat all the chicken bones and tamale wrappers, hump all the pillows, roll in all the poop and enjoy the sunshine! thank you for choosing us and giving us 9 great years together. you will be forever loved and missed.
when the universe created humans best friend, there is one big flaw, they don't live long enough. wilfred's health has been deteriorating quickly this week (as he is in stage 4 renal failure), so we are keeping him quiet, comfortable and giving him all the love.
to love a dog (or animal) is to never be lonely, always have a best friend near, feel unconditional love, laugh often and always be greeted with a smile and kisses. dogs are truly humans best friend. i don't know how much time we have left with wilfred, he is losing interest in food, sleeping more and had trouble jumping on the bed. we will make you comfortable and love on you as much as you let us. but for now, we will enjoy a walk through the arboretum.
this old man is not in the best of health. i think jarad and i have been preparing ourselves that he won't always be with us. he had a check up last week and his kidney levels are declining. he also has a UTI, which is very likely not helping his kidneys. he is on antibiotics, we are doing some labs and will take him back for a follow up in a couple of weeks.
we love him so much and he is a part of this family and a big part of our hearts. he isn't going anywhere fast, but we want to keep him as comfortable, happy, healthy and loved in his old age.
