spider web resist painting

miss jessica asked if i would like to do a art/craft for ryder's class in the month of october.  the kids and i are testing out a few ideas, first up spider web resist painting with crayons and water colors.  

i like this one a lot, but you have to press hard on your crayon.  i originally did it with white crayon, but that is very hard to see what you are drawing (even for me) so for 4 year olds, they would have to use black or gray?  then we painted with water color paints.

library

thursdays are our library days for ryder and i.  picking up a TON of books today!  lots of fall and halloween reads!

good morning deer

this view never gets old and always catches me by surprise.  

sushi bowl

tonight i really enjoyed a new dinner idea i made.  i made a sushi bowl, after i had something similar from a poke place last weekend.

i made sushi rice, teriyaki salmon, diced persain cucumber, avocado and furikake.  for the sauce i drizzled teriyaki and made a sriracha mayo.  it was delicious and will definitely be on the starting line up!

tuesday harvest party

another morning volunteering at elk run farm with ryder and jarad!  we harvested, weighed, washed and packaged radishes, green onion, peppers, kohlrabi, squash, cucumber, green beans and tomatoes for the local food banks!

soaking up the sunshine

soaking up every last minute of what may very likely be the last hot days of the year!  playing on the lake and boat with neighbors is the best! 

banjo's breed???

my parents got me a puppy DNA kit for my birthday and the results are in!  we were all wrong on our guesses of what banjo is.  but one thing is for certain...100% good boy 1000% loved!

park date

bowie only has two other kids from her kinder class in first grade with her, neither of which are good friends.  so these days weekends are spent getting together with our old friends that we miss so  much!

sanctuary

the animal sanctuary is my sanctuary and happy place.  met some friends after school who had never been before to share this special place.  another fun visit!

bonded

the dynamic of adding a dog to an existing family with kids is so different than adopting a dog pre-kids.  banjo is so attached to them, it melts my heart.  there is something very special and tender about the bond of a child and pet.

prek

ms. jessica said ryder is doing so well in prek and remembers so much from last year.  he has made a good friend too, which makes all the difference.  he is learning about the life cycle of apples, vowels, days of the week and months of the year.  it's shaping up to be a great year for ryder!

harvest day

ryder and i spent the morning at elk run farm for harvest day.  we picked, weighed and packaged tomatoes, eggplant, cucumber, zucchini, green beans, swiss chard, kale, green onion and kohlrabi (a cousin of broccoli) for the local food banks.  always feels good to be a helper!

1 month "gottcha" anniversary

one month ago you found your way into your forever home.  you are loved and cherished.  you make us laugh everyday and show your love with cuddles and tons of kisses.  you have a special relationship with each member of the family and i love the way you love the kids.  you are sweet, funny, affectionate, playful, spunky and the BEST dog!  i know everyone says they have the best dog, and they are not wrong.  we all have the best dog for our family and i am so happy you are a part of ours!!!  one month loving on this banjo buzz!

tree swing

we spent the weekend recovering from a cold.  it got me the worst, so we were home a lot.  jarad built the kids a tree swing and it is a big hit!  

bath time!

banjo goes where the kids go, including the shower!  all three kiddos are clean and banjo got brushed and was moral support for bowie while i brushed her hair (cause if you know you know).

best kind of medicine

with a house full of sickies (just a cold) we had a lot of down time this weekend, which was much needed after all our summer craziness and finishing our first full week of school.  not a whole going on except puppy snuggles.
