the kids had a great halloween! it started days ago with a neon dance party, trunk or treat, school parties and a strong finish at the maple valley community center truck or treat and trick or treating with our friends! and luckily the weather cooperated and we had a dry evening!

i have always thought this was a super cool piece and i found it today in the wild! it is a vintage hall cobalt aladdin genie teapot. such a cool and unique shape. this one will have a spot of honor in my hutch!
we got invited by one of ryder's friends from school to their halloween trunk or treat. they have it on their property and over 35 cars were there with decorated trunks that the kids could trick or treat from. they had games, a decorated barn, tractor rides, tons of food and drinks, music and FUN!!!!! this is how you do it rural style, these are our kinds of people!
tonight bowie's school put on their fall dance, which was a neon themed dance party for the whole family to enjoy. we had the neighbors over for pizza beforehand and headed to school for music, dancing and treats.
today was extra special for ryder because i got to volunteer in his classroom! i taught a halloween themed art project. the kids and i tested out a few beforehand and settled on doing tie dye spider webs for the class. i think the kids enjoyed it very much and i loved seeing how happy ryder was that i was there.
bowie drew this picture of herself walking banjo. she has this amazing ability to capture the essence of wilfred, banjo and vivi with such simplicity and accuracy. and i love how her style of drawing people is evolving. look at how she draws the hair, freckles, eye lashes and nose, it's so cute and almost character like.
you know you have reached a new season in parenthood when your kids start to like and appreciate your taste in music. ryder has discovered the magic that is red hot chili peppers! no more baby shark around here!
