diorama part 1

i got a got a new pair of shoes recently and kept the box knowing i would come up with a fun project to use it for.  and i had the idea of a diorama.  i remember making one in elementary school, i was probably older than bowie and i think it was most likely a project i did at home.  but i thought we could break it up into steps and let her go crazy with it.  

so for the first day we looked at some examples online and i asked her to pick her theme.  she wanted to do a unicorn.  so i gave her some open ended art supplies to begin to decorate the box.  she made a unicorn out of washi tape, googly eyes and buttons.  a sun out of cotton balls and eyes and decorated the outside with kwik stix paint.  then i encouraged her to continue to decorate the box so that no brown was showing.  this is where we left off for the day.  we will continue tomorrow with some objects for added interest and dimension.

she is getting so close to riding a big girl bike with no training wheels.  one of these days real soon she will master it!

getting a good pic of this kid can be hard, he doesn't like his picture being taken and he is always on the go.  

improptu photo shoot

some of my very favorite photos of the kids are the ones we don't plan.  usually outside in the warm weather during the golden hour and in their natural state.  fruit and the water hose are always good props, but today bowie's dress matched our outdoor blanket and these just came out so cute.  i try hard to capture ryder, but he is always so quick that most pics come out blurry.  but today i got a couple of frame worthy shots!

one on one

bowie is at school this morning and i asked ryder what he wanted to do with mommy?  his reply was "play with monster trucks and rainbow rice," so we took it outside on this beautiful day!  love spending this time with my favorite lil guy.

sweetness

sometimes they can be so sweet and kind to one another.  caught them holding hands in the car, which just makes my mama heart so happy!

took it outside this afternoon to have a popsicle, read our new library books and enjoy the sun.

i love school

bowie LOVES her school, and i feel so sad that her preschool experience was cut short due to covid.  but this is the face of a happy girl!  i love seeing updates of her in action.

celebrate!

last night with mimi & papa, so we are sending them off with an early birthday celebration for mimi!  sushi & cake were yummy!!!  happy 29 again!

easter egg hunt 2021

the kids got up from quiet time/nap to an easter egg hunt.  not a traditional easter this year; we delayed it and spread it out over two days, but the kids had a blast and said it is their favorite holiday and that is all that counts!
