vintage treasures

i am feeling very inspired and creative in working towards my goal of making our home feel authentic and full of character and interest.  today's fun find is a small strawberry jar with lid.  it was packaged in a bag and i could easily tell it was vintage (made of milk glass) and looked to be in great shape.  it made me happy and for $4, i couldn't pass it up.  

i am not entirely sure what i will use it for, but had some cute ideas.  it could be used for a baby spider plant, so the green top would look  like the stem.  it would make  a great salt pinch bowl by the stove, hold sugar packets (for grandma) but for now, i like it as decoration next to my grandmother's bread box.  

after doing a quick search, this is a atlas hazel strawberry jam jar, it was probably made in the 1950's.  it's not worth much, but it brings me joy!  looking at comps, it varies on different selling sites for $8-$35.00

this is a keep for me!

hand blown leopard glass vase

found this hand blown glass leopard vase/candle holder thrifting for $7.  it is heavy and beautiful, but i have no idea of a company, brand or artist.  i have moved it around a few times now, as it looks great by my plants on the windowsill in the kitchen and i also love it on the new console table.  i have it with a battery powered tealight, and it looks pretty when lite.

it is a keep for me!

cherry blossom

i am not sure if this is in fact a cherry blossom tree in our driveway, as this is later to bloom than other ones in town.  but it sure is pretty, until the rain and wind hit and it goes bald again. when that happens, it sure does make a mess!

took a tour of our local landfill, pretty fascinating! and super cool to see all the bald eagles swooping and flying around making a meal of our trash.

13 months late, but 10 year anniversary tattoo. it's the same sugar skull that I have in white ink on my wrist and jarad has on his ring finger, roman numeral X for 10 years and pink and blue eyes represents each of the kids.  (FYI this is second skin over his tattoo, he doesn't have old man wrinkles like that yet)

found this concert poster of the decemberists and found a perfect little wall to hang it on. i'm a fan of the band, and this print was beautifully professionally framed. loving the moodiness in the hallway.

upcycle - entry way

i got this console table off of my local by nothing group, i knew i had the perfect spot for it so i gave it a light sanding got some new knobs for it and gave it a new life. 

we have this small spot by our front door that never had a real entryway feeling to it. it had a plant stand and a mirror, but it never felt finished, although it never bothered me. i already had everything with the exception of the plant.  i recently thrifted the milk glass candy dish, i originally had it in mind as a planter, but this makes a perfect catch-all.

i'm feeling very creative and super inspired to make our home feel authentic. and for those of you who know me well, know this is spot on.

welcome home

we've spent an amazing 8 days in mexico and were welcome home to some beautiful new blooms! it's kind of fun to think that so much beautiful change can happen in a week. this is also a reminder to start taking allergy medication.

mexico 2024

we spent an amazing week at our favorite resort outside of cancun, mexico!  this time grandma, grandpa, mimi, papa and auntie jaime joined us!  we had a blast playing in the pool, hanging out on the beach, the nightly shows and entertainment, exploring the buffets and relaxing and making memories as a family!
