it's always so much fun taking friends to the sanctuary who have never been before. this will probably be our last visit here before they make their big move to a new farm location. it was a beautiful afternoon loving on all of our favorite furry friends.
this guy is helping me prep dinner since we have a couple of busy afternoons. we are making a low carb lasagna, using zucchini in place of noodles. seeing this photo reminds me of how jarad made me eggplant parm for one of our first dates. teach them young!
set up an easy activity for ryder today that held his attention for a long time. i took out a bin and filled it with lentils then "hide" spring themed mini erasers and he had to find them using a paint brush and tweezers. then he filled up an ice cube tray with his finds. it was easy, fun and combined sensory, fine motor skills, counting and patterns.
the yard is exploding with dandelions, grass, flowers and lots of pollen. jarad mowed the front yard today and i love how the kids always want to go for a "tractor ride."
so glad we made it to story time at the pavilion this morning. this is the last one of the season before summer story time begins in late june. it was a fun morning with good friends, good books and outdoor creative play.
we explored the trails at elk run today after school. this was the first time we have been there and i was pleasantly surprised at how cool they were. we saw so much interesting wildlife (baby ducks, beautiful birds, not sure if a beaver or marmot? and TONS of snakes). it was a gorgeous day and always fun to explore with our buds.

happy earth day, we "celebrated" by talking about all the ways we can make a difference. love this tie dye coffee filter earth bowie did at school.
bowie has been drawing lot of pictures of wilfred and brought home a book she made of wilfred and vivi together. mimi says she has been seeing a pair of two cardinals in her backyard, which i learned can be a sign of comfort when you have lost a loved one. so we like to think the cardinals are visits from viv and wilfred. she did a great of depicting wilfreds sweet face and vivi's pointy ears and fluffy tail. the last picture is these two hugging.
i got a super cool find on my buy nothing group. a brand new in box fiesta mug set of the days of christmas, days 1-4. so excited about these, looking forward to using them over the holidays.
ryder brought home these adorable spring art projects. i love the way he is writing his name on his own.
i got this wilfred pet pillow for jarad. it is so cute and soft. UGH, how we miss our wilfie!!! and rosie roomba and the dust buster have never had to work so hard to keep the crumbs clean under the kitchen table. this pillow lives in his bed in the office by jarad.
when you have an older sister, playing with make up and nail polish just comes with the territory.
trying a new recipe out that i have seen on social media lately. there is no exact recipe, so i just put a heaping T of greek yogurt, 1 egg, splash of vanilla and honey into a bowl and mixed. using the back of a spoon, press out a well in your bread (i used thick cinnamon swirl bread). put a few slices of strawberries and bake in your air fryer o 325 until the "custard" has firmed up and toast is golden.
easter egg hunt is one of the kids most favorite things! and emmer even put money in some of the eggs, which was a fun surprise! the kids run around the yard filling their buckets as fast as they can, and then open up each egg inside and sort them out.
i really love easter. for me, it is a no pressure holiday. we don't have any big traditions we do or follow. if you entertain, it is usually a brunch, which i love! i love filling/stuffing the easter basket, and no other gifts are expected. emmer (the easter bunny) comes when he wants, which for us is usually in the afternoon. i always get my basket stuffers as soon as spring decor hits the store, so i always have my stuff early (this year the kids baskets have been ready for about 6 weeks now, easter was really late this year). easter baskets are usually made up of consumable and practical gifts, which is my favorite kind of gift to give and receive (activities, toiletries, spring/summer necessities (bathing suit, rain boots, sandals, outfit) snacks or treats). i always get a few great pics of the kids and the holiday seems to always fall on a beautiful sunny day.
