wooden crafts and liquid watercolors!

i picked up a few wooden crafts to have on hand for days when i don't have activities planned.  well, today was one of those days (bad case of the mondays) so i pulled out this cute owl box for her to paint with her liquid watercolors.  she decided once it is dry she will put her small paw patrol figures in there. 

these are great because they are inexpensive and you can paint/decorate them with magic markers, kwik stix, chalk pens, stickers, glue gems, tempera paint cakes, glitter glue, etc.  

home depot kids craft!

first weekend of the month is home depot kids workshop!  this month they made a wooden airplane and got to do their craft outside, for us in the PNW this may be one of the last times they do it outside for a while.  then of course they got a donut afterwards! 

briscot pumpkin patch & farm!

today we went to a local family farm for their fall festivities and pumpkin patch.  i had heard some good things about it and this is their first year open to the public.  they had a bounce house for the kids, farm animals to feed, haunted house, games, horse rides, tractor rides and of course the pumpkin patch (which we didn't even go through because we were too busy with everything else).  the owners were very nice and welcoming and wanted everyone to have fun!  this was just our speed as it was perfect for ryder to explore as a new walker and bowie loved the bounc house and the duck races with the well pumps.  i recommend it to any local families and would go back there for sure!

colorful spider webs!

who says halloween art has to be black and orange???  i drew up some spider webs with a sharpie on art paper and bowie and i used tempera cake paint to color them in.

farm art!

bowie's preschool is getting ready for their field trip to the farm next week with some cute art work!

teething!

ryder just got 2 new bottom teeth and is now getting 3 molars!  he wanted to play with his toy while sitting in my lap today, and i can't complain about that.  when he is teething he tends to eat less and want more bottles, drools like crazy, is grumpy and uncomfortable and naps and bedtime become harder.  i hope this is short lived...

leaf ghosts!

happy first day of october!  here is an easy halloween craft to get you in the spirit!

all you need is some leaves, white paint (we are using kwik stix tempera paint sicks) and googly eyes.

pretty self explanatory, but use your white paint to paint the leaves and attach googly eyes with hot glue!  if you want to add any other details you can use a sharpie.
