salt painting
since we are not making unnecessary shopping trips, i am using what we have in the art closet and this is an activity we haven't done in a while. it is easy, fun and you probably have everything you need!
materials:
cardboard
white glue
iodized salt
food coloring or liquid watercolors
pipettes or medicine syringes
how to:
cut up a card board box and squeeze white glue all over
when you have lots of glue on your cardboard cover it all with a good layer of salt
when all the glue is covered in salt, using a pipette or a medicine syringe use food coloring or liquid watercolors to spread color on the salt. watch it bleed together and travel. allow to dry completely.

longest day ever!
we were sick ALL of february and we went into march fairly healthy, trust me i want to stay that way and make sure others are as well, but man we have spent so much time at home and mama is burned out. i am running out of ideas to keep the kids entertained, and all the cooking and cleaning and laundry is exhausting. today i felt frustrated and low on patience. the panic and anxiety were gone for today and i was just grumpy. but getting outside is good for everyone, and thankful for awesome friends who cheer you up with cupcake delivery!!!
elderberry update!!!
there is new information that taking elderberry syrup to boost your immune system may not be the best idea when it comes to corona virus, and that it could cause a "cytokine storm." i don't fully understand what this means, BUT if you take elderberry, there are a couple of things you should do. don't increase your dosage, and stop taking it at the first sign of a fever.
ALSO...i hear that you should not take ibuprofen for fever for what i understand could also cause a "cytokine storm."
P.S. and no i'm not paranoid at all, i had jarad pick up some seeds from home depot, you know, just in case...

rainbow activity
this was a two part activity for bowie. we first started by practicing her cutting skills on some paint chips in rainbow colors.
then on another day i took out all her cut up paint chips and made a rainbow on a large sheet of butcher paper. then i gave her some glue and told her to paste her paint chips on the rainbow.
she started off gluing the pieces, but then quickly shifted to just coloring and making fruits and vegetables with her quik stix and dot markers. she turned this activity into her own and that was totally fine. she made some beautiful art work and got creative, that is all that counts!

shamrock painting
this is about as festive as we are getting around here for st. patty's day. i picked up this large wooden shamrock at the dollar tree a while back, and i am setting it out for bowie with some markers, dot markers, kwik stix, glitter glue and beads. she LOVED this project, especially the glitter glue and gluing the beads.
the only instruction i gave her was to use her markers and kwik stix first before the glue. this is her end product, pretty beautiful!!!
i know we aren't making any unnecessary trips out these days, but i usually have some of these wooden crafts for bowie to use on a rainy day, they are kinda extra special. so next time you are at michaels, hobby lobby or the dollar tree make sure to stock up on a few fun designs!
