sometimes i get these sweet glimpses of what it will be like when they can play together! no fighting over toys, no tears, no whining just playing nicely together. bowie was having fun "feeding" ryder and he was having fun "eating."

bowie's artwork...
"peppa pig" by bowie! i'd say this is pretty great! i'm holding off on tablets for the kids as long as i possibly can, but this is great alternative. it is an LCD writing board that erases with the push of a button and nothing to plug in or charge! bowie plays with this all the time and a great tool to have on hand for the plane, car, appointments and restaurants!

10 months old!!!!!!!
i missed my 9 month post, so this one will be 9-10 months! wow...what a couple of months it has been. we are getting out of that baby phase and starting to make some big leaps! we are making so much progression in sleep, eating and movement!
we officially gave up breastfeeding at 8.5 months and ryder is building a huge appetite. some days i think he eats more than bowie. he is not a big fan of baby food and purees but loves feeding himself whatever we are eating. he particularly loves pizza and chicken nuggets. on top of all the food he is eating he is still taking about 35-40 ounces of formula a day! this kid can eat!!!! one of the cutsy things he does is when he is eating in his high chair he will turn his head to the side and put his head down. i don't know why he does this, maybe to say "thank you" or a flirty thing, but it is adorable! we are also working on sign language for "more" and "all done."
he has been crawling for some time now, but still does his army style crawl. he is super fast and gets where he wants to go. he pushes off of right foot and scoots forward reaching out with his arm, its like a zombie crawl. he will get up on all fours and rock, but i am not sure if he will crawl this way. i kind of think that he will just learn to walk and that this is his style. he is much better at sitting up for long stretches of time. he doesn't pull himself up to a sitting position, but at his 9 month check up the doctor said he has a long trunk making balance a little harder. but he doesn't want to sit, he is always on the move! he is also able to pull himself up to stand and starting to cruise and perimeter on the furniture. some of these big milestones are very new to him and happened what seems like over night. when we went to california he started doing some of these developments and has been working on perfecting them at home now. i wonder if seeing his cousin quincy in action helped him. we just gave up the bouncer because he is getting to big and has no interest in it anymore. we have a walker and he likes to stroll around in it, but he is also on the big side for it as well. luckily he hasn't figured out he can stand up in his crib yet, but we recently lowered it to the last setting. he gets into everything and is attracted to all things dangerous (fireplace, outlets, cords, etc.) our house is pretty well baby proofed but he has me looking at things in a whole new way that i didn't have to worry about with bowie.
his sleep is also improving! i hate to jinx it, but we have had two nights this week where he slept 12 hours uninterrupted!!! this is huge! he literally spent the first 7 months of his life attached to me and my boobs and sleep was hard to come by. most nights he wakes up 1-2 times for a bottle. we are slowly starting to only do once a night feedings. at 6 months old we did a few cry it out sessions and he is able to fall asleep groggy on his own. i go to bed prepared to make him 2 bottles and i have learned how to make this easy on myself. before bed i warm up water and put it into a swell thermos bottle. his formula is measured out and into the dispenser. his bottles are assembled and ready to go! i put this all in my bathroom and when i hear him wake up, i make his bottle and it beats coming downstairs and having to put everything together and wait for the bottle warmer! mom hack!!!
he observes bowie playing all day and sometimes i get the sweetest glimpses of what it will be like when they can play together. ryder loves the play room and pulls himself to stand on the shelf by the window to look outside or the play kitchen. also our sensory table is a good height for him as well. i can't wait to get him into some messy sensory play! i can't say he has a favorite toy yet. probably whatever bowie has. but he has been liking these plastic cube blocks and the balls from the ball pit. he goes crazy over jarad, he is totally a daddys best friend. he babbles all the time and more recently loves to screach. he says "ma ma ma ma" a lot lately.
he takes 2 naps a day. he usually wakes up between 7:30-8am and will go back down for a nap about 2 hours after waking up, so around 10am. when he takes his morning nap, bowie and i will usually do an activity and he gets up in time for lunch! then i try to get both babes down for an afternoon nap from 2-4 and bedtime is between 7:30-8pm for both of them.
he rarely cries, he is an all around happy guy and people tell me all the time how chill he is. it is amazing to watch him grow, learn and take in the world. he has a heart of gold, a twinkle in his eye and the way the edges of your upper lip curl melt mamas heart. you complete our family and you are so incredibly loved!!!

eggs!
ryder is trying all kinds of new foods and really building up an appetite! this morning he tried egg yolks for the first time!
easter baskets 2019!
the fun thing about having your own family is doing holidays the way YOU want to. i don't know why we did it this way, but i am kind of liking it. we opened easter baskets after nap time on saturday and sunday we will have an egg hunt. it felt nice to enjoy each part of easter without rushing it and we told bowie that eggs will be tomorrow because daddy was mowing the lawn and scared off the easter bunny.
bowie's easter basket includes some new spring/summer clothes, bathing suit, dress, nail polish, kite, glow sticks for the bath, summer pajamas, green toys dump truck and alphabet cookie cutters for play dough and activities.
ryder is getting a bathing suit, an easter book, wooden toy cars, glow sticks for bath and new sippy cups!
i spread it out on the train table with a few gifts from grandparents, and a new ball pit for ryder!
