produce delivery???

subscription services are so popular these days and i have been trying a few.  i mentioned a few weeks ago about imperfect produce, produce that may not look pretty and is not bought by grocery stores due to size or scaring imperfections but is perfectly fine to eat.  so i was unhappy with my first delivery from them.  mostly because i was unable to customize my order and i got a lot of produce we don't eat (grapefruit) and too many lemons and my oranges were not very good either.  they gave me a credit on the order to try again and last week i got my 2nd delivery.  i was able to customize my box to exactly what i want, and i got a great variety (peaches, apples, kiwis, bell peppers, artichokes, celery and avocados) but most of my order came very under ripe and was just OK.  my girlfriend got her order last week as well and had the opposite problem, her produce was moldy and had already gone bad.  they also charge a delivery fee, which i think is silly when you are spending $25 on a box.  most companies will include free delivery if meet a certain minimum dollar requirement.  i ended up cancelling my order because of the inconsistency of the product.  i LOVE the idea behind this company but in practice it just isn't working for me at this time.  i hope they can work out the kinks and i would be happy to try it again.  in the meantime, i will continue to do my fred meyer click list and we also have a local produce stand that is open in spring and summer and when they are not open they do free local delivery all year round!
