tinkergarden!

today was our first tinkergarden session at lake meridian!  it is a cross between a forest school and a mommy and me nature class.  i wore ryder in the ergo while bowie made new friends and we had a fun morning learning about spring time, planting seeds, making mud and collecting pretty nature objects to make a collage. 

the class opened up with the kids all getting a bucket to go on a nature hunt for pretty things to be used in a collage on the tarp mat.  then they sang the tinkergarden song.  the teacher talked about spring time and how plants grow.  they set out big buckets of water and dirt for the kids to make mud.  the kids got messy and added some seeds to the mud.  they came together for circle/celebration time for hand washing and a snack.  when the class was done we played at the park with her new friend izzy.  the kids left dirty, with stamps on their hands, and a bag of the mud and seed mix to plant at home.  then the teacher will follow up this week with an email on how we can teach what we learned at home and give us some homework.  the theme this season is "empathy."
