jungle play dough kit

i prepped some play dough kits and activities in anticipation for summer, but when you have a sick kid at home, i had to bring it out sooner.

gardening

in the PNW they say it is usually safe to start planting after mothers day, but this spring is particularly cold and wet.  so i have been waiting to find the right time to re-do our planters.  even though we had a very wet weekend, there were some beautiful patches of sunshine as well, so i found some time to get some flowers and do a little gardening.

i don't have much of a green thumb, but in the past i have planted marigolds (because they remind me of my grandma) and coleuses (shade plants) and they have done well.  so sticking with what i know and has worked in the past.  next project will be to plant our strawberry pots and figure out what veggies and herbs to grow.  we have had little luck with veggies, but our strawberries are exploding!  my friend gave me 10 strawberry starts years back and they have taken off, we even have strawberries growing in the cracks in the pavement.

uno!

we have been playing lots of games as a family and working on building our collection.  one that we were missing was uno and i remember playing it all the time as a kid.  so we recently got it and the kids LOVE it!!!  they don't totally get the strategic ways of winning, but are learning and are able to play the game well.  it's been fun for all of us, and card games are great since they travel well and don't take up much space.
