preschool animal art

some more animal art from this weeks classes for bowie.

scissors

the new craft cubby has ryder really interested in the kwik stix and scissors.  he hasn't had much practice with scissors, so we are making play dough snakes and he can practice cutting them into pieces.

bread

we tried an emmy recipe for bread and it was an epic fail.  i am not sure where we went wrong, but at least the process was fun.  it's been a while since the kid and i have baked together, but i wish it turned out better.  if you want to see the video of her making the recipe click HERE

sink or float

ryder has been requesting to do a sink or float activity.  both kids were super into it today!

help yourself busy corner

this weird cut out in the kitchen wall is wasted space, but this week i decided to put it to a better use with organizing some craft supplies and resources for the kids that they can grab themselves.  we have baskets of workbooks, learning manipulatives, flash cards and tracing boards.  and art supplies!

since bowie took a tour of her new school, she has been really motivated to do her school work.  so i wanted it to be easily accessible to her.  and since our activities have changed since ryder no longer naps, i want to make sure she gets enough arts and crafts in.  and ryder who is not really into crafts the way bowie is, has shown a big interest in drawing and painting on his own since i created this space for them.

rare moment

ryder was so tired he was melting down.  i told him to come sit in my lap and he was out within a minute.  he rarely falls asleep like this or takes a nap, so i will savor these sleepy cuddles.
