bowie's mini "minnie" bday celebration 1 of many...

this year i have been super conflicted about how i want to celebrate bowie's 2nd birthday.  the first birthday is really about the parents and family and we had 2 large parties for her, one in california and one at home in washington.  i had pictures done and i wanted to do them again this year, but my favorite photographer retired.  anyways...the last few birthday parties i have been to have not been very age appropriate or even kid friendly.  i wanted something BOWIE would enjoy with the friends she sees regularly.  i toyed around with the idea of an easter egg hunt at the house, pizza making or cookie decorating but decided that i really wanted to have her party out of the house.  i felt like having a party at home would be a lot of catering to the adults and i am not up for it this year.  so i have decided to do a couple of small play dates with different groups of friends.  i liked the idea of a small more cohesive group.

now that i got that part figured out, i needed to find the right location.  one of my girlfriends had a play date for her sons birthday at discovery playtown.  i didn't want to copy her, and i wanted something new and different, but it was a great idea!  one of my girlfriends suggested this place called "juz play for kids" and it is in issaquah.  a little bit of a drive, but not far!  it is an indoor kids play gym and perfect for this age!   it has ball pits, moving swings, slides, inflatable bouncey toys and jungle gyms/mazes to crawl through.

my mom is in town and wanted to be a part of one of bowie's birthday celebrations, so i planned it for today and it was a perfect rainy day to play inside.  we had 3 of her best friends meet us there and i think all the kids enjoyed it!  i sent them home with a minnie/mickey coloring book, crayons, flower seeds and home made brownies.  bowie picked out her special outfit in the morning and chose a "pretty dress" with minnie on it.  and also wanted a bow in her hair, which she ripped out in the car.  she played so hard she fell asleep on the ride home, but enjoyed opening her gifts when daddy got home from work!

this was the perfect birthday play date and we will repeat it again with our other group of friends next week!  then her mimi and papa come and we will celebrate again at fox hollow farms!
