when we moved to washington, i became much more aware of how nature changes through out the year. i don't think we have 4 distinct seasons; but something more along the lines of rain, more rain, beautiful and then magical.
some things i have learned to look out for in our home are when the cottonwoods blow that is usually the end of spring and beginning of summer. our pears and apples are ready for picking at the end of august. best to wait until after mother's day to plant your garden. early signs of spring begin late january/early february when the daffodils bloom. it's officially spring when jarad needs to mow the grass at least on a weekly basis. and march is where i can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and the days slowly get longer and we get patches of dry beautiful weather. i know fall isn't far when the acorns fall and the leaves begin to change. then i know it won't be long until the flannel sheets are on the bed along with another blanket.
this is my favorite time of year. and i'm gonna soak it all in before the end of summer. we still have lots of fun planned and we are off to our next adventure...orcas island!!
