jarad has been wanting to go to whistler for vacation since we moved here. i have been hesitant, because i thought it would be all about the bike riding, but boy was i wrong. this was our first REAL vacation away from the kids (thank you grandma and grandpa) and it is AMAZING!!!
it's about a 4.5 hour drive, and a beautiful one at that and it brings you to the village of whistler. we arrived right at lunch time and went to one of jarad's fav spots to eat right by the lift for the bikers. then we got tickets for the gondala and went to the top of the mountain. there were spectacular views, a scary suspension bridge, chair lift rides, and cocktails!
one of the gondalas goes from peak to peak (whistler to blackcomb) and it has the largest unsupported in the world, at 1.88 miles long and about 1,500 feet above ground, yikes!
jarad did a 1/2 day of riding and i walked around the village checking out the shopping and we met up for lunch and pool time in the afternoon. this place is beautiful and quite the vibe.
