if you saw my post a couple of weeks ago about how to keep your spring mix fresh, i am thrilled to let you know it worked so well! normally when i buy a big container of lettuce it goes bad within a few days, sometimes when i buy it i am already picking out bad pieces of lettuce. so when you buy it, immediately open it, put a paper towel in the bottom and store upside down. change out the paper towel as needed. and watch how much longer your lettuce mix will last you!
this morning i woke up to what jarad called "suicidal bananas." i forgot to take a pic, but the bananas were hanging on a banana hanger and the peels were starting to pull back exposing the fruit (i think this is due to the extreme heat we have had). i already have plenty of bananas in the freezer, so i decided to do what i do best with bananas...banana bread (or muffins in this case). i don't really need them around the house (cause i WILL eat them all), but i thought it would be nice to bring to our neighbors and the other batch to our friends that watched bowie the other night. but my mother in law swears by this trick to keep your bananas fresher longer and from turning brown. i also love my bananas on the green side, so i hope this keeps them from turning brown and mushy too quickly. just take a piece of plastic wrap and wrap the top of the bananas.
