painting on plexi!

we had plexi cut for some shelves many many years ago and we are not currently using it, it is being stored in the closet.  i've seen some super cool easels made with wood and plexi, which gave me the idea to bring the plexi board outside for her to paint on.

i just put the plexi board on top of our utility shelf and gave her some washable tempera paint and let her go for it!

painting confessions...i absolutely HATE painting with a toddler!  i set this up for her thinking she would play with it for a long time, i was really looking for a winner activity this morning as i needed some peace and quiet after having a rough morning with ryder.  i have to weigh the set up/clean up time vs. play time to see if it is worth it for me.  well, while she had fun she only played with it for less than 15 minutes (probably closer to 10).  there was paint all over her, even though she was wearing her painting shirt, and i had to rinse off the board, deck and brushes.  this activity had me up tight and i've learned i am no fun when it comes to painting, which is not how i want to be with her when doing a "fun" activity.  i hope we can figure out a way to do more of this, but even doing it outside it was still way more mess than it was worth.
