this is another super cool heart day experiment from maddie. this one was great, because the crystals grow very quickly!
the kids shaped pipe cleaner into hearts and we secured them with string to a popsicle stick. jarad used a ratio of 3:1 of borax powder to boiling water (3 T borax to 1 cup boiling water). then we placed them inside of mason jars (make sure your hearts fit through the opening) and filled with the hot borax solution, making sure the hearts were totally submerged. then we wait. the next morning the kids were thrilled to find crystal hearts that take on the color from the pipe cleaner.
they are drying now and can be hung in the window as sun catchers. such a fun and cool idea!
