saturday morning we headed 20 minutes south to chico, where we went to college. we started our day in chico with the farmers market. it is surprisingly a very large one, located on the edge of town.
the farmers market has a large selection of fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, artwork and food from local restaurants. i bought 2 packs of organic seeds (lettuce mix and broccoli raab) for jarad and i to plant in our garden box. then mitzi and i got a parmesan bread to go with our dinner and a scone mix and lemon curd for breakfast the next day. from the market we headed to the best bagel shop downtown for a late breakfast/early lunch. we got delicious bagel sammys from brooklyn bagels, and then headed to the chico state campus to walk around.
it is fun to see how things have changed and yet still look the same since i was there many years ago. chico is truly a special place and a wonderful town to call home during those college years. after walking the campus we spent some time downtown. we ended up in the candy store and the national yo yo museum.
in the evening we went to the local corning halloween kids festival. emersyn dressed up as a goose, and she was the cutest one there!
we came home to a great dinner (pasta and cheese,) and ended up in the jacuzzi with a bottle of wine that night. in the morning we made our scone mix (that will be in a separate blog) and carved pumpkins. i even got to visit with her parents briefly as they picked up emersyn to babysit as we got ready to head to the airport.
it was a fantastic weekend, that always goes by too fast. everytime i visit northern california i am reminded of how much i love it, and how much i adore and miss my girlfriends. it is fun to see them with their families and get some "girl time" in as well.
